Black Public Media 2026 Open Call (PitchBLACK)

Who qualifies
- Applicant must be the project's producer or director, a U.S. citizen, with at least three years of professional producing/directing experience (or a senior producer attached)
- the project must be a feature-length (60+ min) nonfiction film in pre-production, production, or early post-production, suitable for public media distribution
- the applicant must hold artistic, budgetary, and editorial control and own the copyright
Good to know: Up to five projects receive $20,000 each and an invitation to pitch at the 10th PitchBLACK Forum (June 2027); one project then receives the PitchBLACK Award of up to $150,000. Deadline: October 1, 2026, 11:59 p.m. PT. Note: BPM funding awards are licensing agreements for public media distribution.
