Cost calculators

These aren't the "enter your ZIP, get a mystery number" calculators. Each one shows its math and its sources, so you can sanity-check the result before you spend a dollar.

Moving Cost Calculator

Moving is one of the most overpaid-for services in America — quotes for the same move can differ by thousands. This calculator estimates local and long-distance moves across three move types (DIY truck, container, full-service), adjusts for the season you're moving in, and breaks down where the money goes. Includes the national averages behind the numbers and five ways to cut the bill.

Kitchen, bathroom, and whole-home remodels vary wildly by region and scope. We're building a calculator that uses regional labor data so the estimate actually reflects your area — not a national average that means nothing.

Holiday 2026 buying guides

Every fall, the same thing happens: millions of people search for gift ideas, compare nearly identical products, and overpay because they're in a rush. We're building a set of gift-finder and product-comparison guides for the 2026 holiday season — organized by recipient and budget, with honest picks and price tracking. They launch this fall, ahead of Black Friday.

How these tools stay free

Short version: when a tool recommends a product and you buy it through our link, the retailer pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes the calculator's numbers — the math doesn't know or care about our links. Our full policy is on the affiliate disclosure page.

Questions, answered

Are these tools really free?

Yes. No account, no email, no paywall. The calculators run entirely in your browser.

How accurate are the estimates?

They're built from published national averages and shown as ranges, because real quotes vary. Use them to budget and to spot a bad quote — then get 2–3 written quotes before booking anything.

Is my information stored?

No. Nothing you type into a calculator leaves your browser. We don't see it, store it, or share it. Details are in our privacy policy.
