Who qualifies

  • Generative artists creating original work in choreography, digital/electronic arts, video/film, or visual arts
  • age 21+
  • residing in the U.S., DC, a Tribal Nation, or a U.S. territory
  • average adjusted gross income of $80,000 or less (individual) or $160,000 (joint filers) over the last two tax returns
  • not enrolled in a degree program
  • sustained public artistic activity over the last five years. For recent unexpected medical, dental, or mental health emergencies only — not lost wages or living expenses

Good to know: One-time grants up to $5,000 for medical/dental/mental health emergencies. Next cycle (Cycle 39): opens Oct 20, 2026, closes Nov 17, 2026; Cycle 40 opens Dec 15, 2026, closes Jan 12, 2027. Important: work created solely for online consumption (e.g., YouTube/Instagram-only) does not meet the artistic-activity requirement.
